Little-known Southern Utah firm provides chemical for ATK fuel

Davie Cooper was struggling to analyze the results of a Thanksgiving Point exhibit on the nature of light.

"Goes," said the 3-year-old, on vacation from Grand Rapids, Mich., and visiting his grandparents in Riverton.

"Goes," he repeated, pointing at a rubber ball small enough to roll under a wooden crossbar.

"Doesn't go," he then said, pointing at a larger rubber ball, too big to roll under the bar.

Davie couldn't read the sign, but he had just learned about the concept of filters.

Firing it up in Promontory

PROMONTORY -- In a long, skinny building on a Box Elder County hill sat one chilly rocket for most of the summer.

Space shuttle Atlantis close to 120 million miles

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. -- Space shuttle Atlantis closed in on the 120 million-mile mark as its final voyage neared an end and astronauts inspected their ship in advance of Wednesday's landing.

Space shuttle Atlantis soars on final voyage

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. -- Space shuttle Atlantis is on its way to orbit for the last time.

Atlantis and an experienced crew of six blasted off Friday afternoon. More than 40,000 guests gathered at the Florida launch site, all of them eager to catch one of the few remaining shuttle flights. NASA said it was the biggest launch-day crowd in years.
